The Luxury of AURA
Motorola AURA Will Make Your Phone the Talk of the Town

The economy may be at its worst in years, but Motorola thinks there's still a market for a bling mobile phone. The company says the handcrafted design of its new AURA handset shown at CES is "inspired by luxury watches." And it has a price to match: $2,000 when it becomes available later this year. What makes the phone so spendy? According to Motorola, it's all in the numbers: 16 million colors in a circular display that has 300 dpi resolution, a 62-carat sapphire-crystal lens, 130 precision ball bearings that drive the assisted-opening blade, 700-plus individual components that include nickel/chrome-plated outer screws and a stainless-steel housing that features chemically etched textures and patterns and requires nearly two weeks to polish.
The AURA has the same coating used on luxury watches, and it features Motorola's CrystalTalk technology, which the company claims delivers "supreme clarity" and gives "deep resonance" to calls. Of course, it has all of the other features of a normal phone, such as a 2 megapixel camera, a music player and Bluetooth so that you can use it hands-free in your Bentley.

Sorry but any **** that pays for this is just asking these phone makers to continue to ask ridiculous prices for years to come... I could understand if it had say $1800 in diamonds or something but it doesn't. But to ask over $300 for a phone that is outdated in a year is crazy. My dare has a 3.2 mega pixel camera. I figured this thing would at least offer top notch options.. Which I don't see.. Just my 2 cents! It does look nice but come on.

I had a $100.00 Motorola that had a camera, big whoop I own a camera anyways. And it was designed to play music, which I never used. All this junk AURA really is is an expesnsive clock and phone. The Iphone 3G is probably the best on the market and this damn thing makes the 3G look worth buying. I say screw the $1800 in diamonds the damn phone better come with $1800.

Of course, if you knew anything about diamonds you'd realize $180 buys you $1,800's worth. Pay $1,800 for those diamonds, and avoid being cool for the next twelve months, or at all. Besides that, it seems to set one apart, wouldn't one agree?

And, because it's a Motorola, it won't work for crap. . .

Dropping $1,800 for a phone that will most likely be obsolete in less than a year is...wait...dropping $1,800 for a phone PERIOD is just stupid.
I'm sure there will be some that will buy them to mimic their favorite celebrity and others that just have money to p1ss away, but so goes the expression...
A fool and their money are soon parted...

A while back I bought a D&G (Dolce and Gabbana) Razor. What a rip off, it was the same Razor they have been pumping out forever, aside from the gold enclosure adn a few D&G wallpapers and screen savers (and Dolce and Gabbana wetched on the back) it was a piece of junk, same interface and outdated software. and it was $600 when they came out. I feel like such an idiot

wow $2000 for a phone and it only has 2 meg camera on it when there is 5 megs out there as well 3 G networks. You would think that if they were gong to put that price on it then the features would be a little more. Give it a week like every new phone there will be glitches as a cst service rep i feel sorry for the people who have to take those calls for a phone that doesn't work aftre you pay 2 grand.

Relax people - It's just a marketing thought from them - maybe it will sell maybe not, but at the show you need something to get the people into the tent - they know they aren't going to sell a load of them but they get the press anyway - so spend your money someplace else - they'll survive.
